About Me

Rebecca Shamash

Psychotherapist & Counsellor, MA Integ Psych, Adv Dip, UKCP Reg

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor which means I draw on my training and experience of a variety of approaches to work creatively with you and the things you may want to address in your life. I look to understand and support you as we explore your current situation, looking to the future as well as difficulties or patterns which may arise from your past. We may also explore more practical ways to help you manage day to day.

I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (Middlesex University), an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling and Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the Minster Centre, London. I have also completed Counselling Studies CPCAB Foundation and Level 2 Certificates.

I also have a Practitioners Certificate in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes from Metanoia.

Before I came to psychotherapy I worked as a Life Coach for which I hold an Advanced Diploma.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and some of my professional interests are

  • Trauma and the body
  • Neurodiversity
  • Neuroscience research particularly relating to attachment, early development and intersubjectivity
  • Creative and reflective writing in psychotherapy
  • Use of the arts in psychotherapy. Recovery Through Art At The Salome Gallery is a recent publication I wrote for the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked within the NHS and for various low cost counselling and therapy services.
